So this is about Mel Lyons aka Mel the Man. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Domain meltheman.com was available as on Googling I found lots of people calling themselves Mel the Man.
At 72 years of age, I would be classed as a Silver Surfer but I’m not, I’m more of a salt and pepper surfer with a good head of hair. My claim to fame is that I am the father of Adam Lyons the now well known Dating Coach or as his local (Austin, Texas) TV station calls him, their Relationship Expert. Adam has also been the World’s Number One PUA or Pick Up Artist. Perhaps, I should consult my son, as I have lived alone since 1988, when my second wife dumped me.
I remember little of my early days as I was evacuated out of London at the start of WWII. I was sent up to the North of England, Yorkshire until the war was over. I was then brought up in London’s East End. I left school at 15 and went to work in a family Betting Office. I was red hot at simple Math.
The time was the 50′s when all sorts of villainy went on in the seedier parts of London, especially in the East End where illegal gaming dens flourished and a Red Light district was prominent in the Commercial Road. My first lay was with a hooker at age 15 and cost me £1 for a “knee trembler” that is up against a wall in a dark alley. These were exciting times.
With the licensing of Betting Shops in 1961, I worked as a Betting Shop manager for several bookmakers. It was a time when you could leave a job on a Friday and be working for someone else on Monday morning. The country was desperately short of labour, so much so that immigrants were invited over from the Caribbean. There were not many black people in the UK until the Windrush immigrants arrived.
Like other so called Baby Boomers, I don’t remember the 60′s 
I did hit the Hippy Trail to Morocco though. When I got back to the UK with my soul cleansed, I went to work in the Music Business. I applied for a job with Richard Branson, in his first record shop in Notting Hill but was turned down as he was only employing Graduates. His early fortune started with the issuing of the first record by Mike Oldfield and Tubular Bells; a record that I came to hate.
My son, Adam was born in 1980. At two years old, I bought him his (or mine) first computer a Sinclair ZX80. The language was Basic and easy to learn and I was soon writing Basic Programs. We played Space Invaders but once Adam could beat me, I gave up playing video games. 20 years later, Adam was continually playing Video Games. At one point, I told Adam that he would never get a job, playing games all day long. So what did he do? He landed a job playing Video games for a Sky TV company called Gamezville. That was typical of Adam, he went all out to become an expert at whatever he turned his mind to and he is still the same now.
I went for another form of Gaming at landed a job at the Playboy Casino opposite Hyde Park. I still had gambling in my blood and Blackjack was my game of choice. Hence one of my several websites is on this game.

Now retired, I spend a lot of time travelling and have two websites, one focusing on the UK market. Lyons of London and Travel the Globe aimed more at the US, as I now spend time between the UK and with my son in Austin, Texas.
